Global MBA - International Business, Hospitality, Sports & Leisure Management
London School of Business & Finance (Online), London, United Kingdom
As an executive member of the Nature Isle Toastmasters Club, an affiliate club of Toastmasters International; an international organization whose principal goals are to build effective leaders and communicators. I have been tasked with responsibilities varying from launching marketing and public relations initiatives to grooming future leaders and communicators. These qualities and experiences not only add to my professional acumen in the hospitality industry, but it allows me the length and breadth to self-realize as an industry leader on the subject.
Another critical part of my career goals, is working closely with stakeholders like CTO, CHTA and other HTA’s both locally and regionally to create sustainable opportunities that will benefit the tourism and hospitality industry, making the Caribbean particularly Dominica, the number one destination of choice.
Heartfelt thanks to the CTO Foundation who continues to open doorways and creates life changing opportunities for persons who are financially challenged and very passionate about the industry. Therefore, I am very grateful to have received a Study Grant from the CTO Foundation to pursue a BA "What inspired you to pursue a degree in Global MBA- International Business, Hospitality, Sports & Leisure Management?”
At the end of 2013, I felt that I was ready to pursue further studies but without leaving my job behind. I am privileged to be one of the few local managers employed at the only 5 Star Resort on my island which has won World Travel Awards for ‘St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Leading Spa Resort’ and ‘Caribbean’s Leading New Hotel’. Being a member of the Executive Committee which manages the Resort’s operations, I was driven to strive for higher education in an effort to boost my contribution to the resort’s development and to climb the management hierarchy. St. Vincent and the Grenadines anticipates completion of its international airport development project in late 2014 and I believe it is important for us to develop a successful Tourism product to satisfy the needs of foreign investment, regional and international visitors which are few of the benefits to be derived.
With a first degree in Accounting, the successful completion of my MBA in International Business, Hospitality, Sports and Leisure Management would positively improve the quality of my contribution to nation building and assist with my career dream of becoming a Chief Operations Officer within the service industry. I am also confident that I would be fully equipped with the knowledge and skills to understand cultural diversity, developing markets, the management and operation of business in the global economy.
"How will receiving a CTO Foundation scholarship assist you in achieving your career goals?”
To me, receiving the CTO Foundation scholarship is more than receiving money, but instead it tells me that I have been recognized as having the potential to be a nation and industry builder. You would agree that education is one of the most costly investments to be made and often times we are forced to make choices that squeeze higher learning out of the picture. I believe that education is the key to success and must be seen as a need rather than a want, hence the CTO Foundation scholarship will enable me to realize my true potential without having to carry the financial burden as I move closer to my career goal of becoming a Chief Operations Officer.
I therefore wish to extend sincerest gratitude to the CTO Foundation Inc. (Hons) in Hospitality and Tourism Management.
