Roseanne DeFreitas is a dedicated public servant and seasoned leader currently serving as Deputy Commissioner of the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism. With more than two decades of experience spanning tourism, education, and social services, she brings a uniquely human-centered approach to her work — one rooted in compassion, community, and a deep commitment to the people of the Virgin Islands.
Roseanne's career reflects a remarkable breadth of service. Before stepping into her role at the Department of Tourism, she spent four years as a Professional School Counselor with the USVI Department of Education, and nearly a decade as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the Department of Human Services, where she also served as Director of Senior Volunteer Programs. These experiences gave her a strong foundation in advocacy, interpersonal communication, and community leadership that she carries into every role.
A proud graduate of the University of the Virgin Islands, Roseanne holds both a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselor Education/School Counseling and Guidance Services. Her academic background informs her leadership style — empathetic, collaborative, and solution-focused.
