Roger Caruth, JD, Ph.D. is an accomplished scholar, attorney, and communications professional whose career sits at the intersection of law, media, and culture. Currently serving as Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Howard University's Cathy Hughes School of Communications, Dr. Caruth brings nearly three decades of expertise in strategic communication, advertising, media law, and Caribbean studies to his work in the classroom and beyond.

A tenured faculty member and Faculty Coordinator for Howard's Hip-Hop Studies Minor, Dr. Caruth teaches courses ranging from Principles of Persuasion to Advertising Research & Marketing. He is also a published scholar, having contributed to Black/Africana Communication Theories (Palgrave Macmillan), where his work explored Caribbean communication and social mediation in the digital age.

His academic career is complemented by a rich professional background. As founder of The Caruth Group, LLC, he has provided business and legal consulting services for nearly 30 years, with expertise in copyright, contract law, artist rights, and music production. He previously served as a Research Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, where he focused on Caribbean culture, technology, and media.

Dr. Caruth holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Media Studies from Howard University and a J.D. from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School. He is a Commissioner on Washington D.C.'s Mayor's Advisory Commission on Caribbean Community Affairs and a board member of The HistoryMakers Higher Education Advisory Board — reflecting his enduring commitment to amplifying Caribbean and African American voices on the national stage.
