MSc. Tourism Management

University of Surrey, Surrey, UK

In 2006 when I learnt that I was awarded one of the two CTO Foundation Postgraduate Scholarships, a sense of disbelief mingled with the elation and pride I felt. For the previous five years I worked as the Communications Manager and subsequently Tourism Planner in the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Ministry of Tourism, where I was exposed to and aware of the work of the CTO.

Several factors resulted in the deferral of my studies in Tourism Management at the renowned University of Surrey in the U.K. to 2007, but it was well worth the wait! The Surrey experience will forever be embedded in me. It was not just an opportunity to further my studies and by extension advance my career in tourism, but served as a cultural exchange as well.

This memorable and fulfilling journey would not have been possible without the assistance of the Caribbean Tourism Organization and the CTO Foundation and for this I wish to extend a sincere and heartfelt Thank You.

I would also like to thank the Foundation for the prize won in its raffle in 2012 at the State of the Industry Conference which afforded me the opportunity to ultimately get married and honeymoon at St. James Club Antigua in 2013!  I would encourage everyone to support the fundraisers of the Foundation!!!
