Travel and Tourism has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a country where you can actually see and feel the benefits which Travel and Tourism can bring makes it easier to advocate to the world the economic and social importance of this exciting industry.
After my undergraduate degree, I was first exposed to the intricacies behind Travel and Tourism when I took up a Research and Statistics position at the St Lucia Tourist Board. After four years of enjoying what I did, I decided to move on and further my education abroad. I decided to move to Spain and pursue a Masters in Tourism & Environmental Economics. I then reached out to CTO to seek funding assistance with my programme. I saw the scholarship as not only a contribution to my Masters but as an award to be proud of as a Caribbean national working in Travel and Tourism.
When my taught programme was finished, I went on to secure an internship at the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). Since then, I have risen in roles and responsibilities and now am permanent staff member and a Manager, Policy & Research. In my role, I am constantly underscoring to governments the importance of Travel & Tourism in the development of their economy. Being a Caribbean national makes it all the easier.
I thank CTO for believing in me and for helping me pursue what I firmly believe in.
