BSc Culinary Arts and Food Service Management
Johnson and Wales University, North Miami, FL
Firstly, being a Caribbean Tourism Organisation Foundation Scholarship recipient is a privilege. Having been considered for such an award I believe that to whom much is given much is expected. It brings to mind the added desire to want to archive more in my quest for excellence. This thought process allows me to pave the way for suitable candidate who will vie for an award in the future and can use my success story as an inspiration to believe that they can achieve whatever they set their minds to achieve.
My advice to persons pursuing and prospective candidates for University level education is simply put “hard work pays off”. I cannot stress enough that it is ok to be ‘different’. Being different from the crowd is what gives you the competitive edge to stand out amongst your peers. I recall being told in group projects and presentations that I do too much. What I can safely say is that those extras that I did allowed me to earn the Academic Performance Award in 2014 over all my peers who pursued the Bsc. in Culinary Arts & Food Service Management at Johnson & Wales University, North Miami Campus. I will conclude by further expressing that ‘attitude’ is everything, as I believe that having a ‘Can Do’ and willing attitude, seeing the positives out of the negatives are positive attributes that shapes you into a well-rounded graduate for employment. It was said by Ret’d Gen Collin Powell that “Excellence is not an exception it is a prevailing attitude”.
