Grant
BBA Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management
Johnson and Wales University, North Miami
My name is Crystal Hoyte. The place I call home is the beautiful island of Barbados. I attended the Combermere Secondary School and from there I went on to attend the Hospitality Institute of Barbados. I fell in love with the travel industry and I knew that this was the career path I wanted to pursue. At the college, one of my teachers recommended Johnson and Wales University as my next step in achieving my career goals.
Attending Johnson and Wales University has by far been one of the best decisions I have ever made. It has afforded me lots of great opportunities and as a Travel and Tourism major, I had the pleasure of networking with some of the best industry names and representatives. My internship, which was a requirement for graduation enabled me to put into practice the classroom skills acquired into a real life working environment. I was able to apply and in the end be a winning candidate for the 2012 Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Study Grant. This grant was indeed helpful in aiding me with the completion of this program.
As an international student tuition is costly and this grant has definitely added some relief. The staff, namely Ms. Marvelle Sealy, was friendly and courteous. She showed genuine concern and assisted me in expediting the process with little hassle. As a graduate I look forward to embarking on the journey of my next chapter. I am grateful and I offer my sincere thanks to the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) for their help, I am another step closer to my ultimate goal.
